Google Play Store has removed another app that had come under close scrutiny due to a controversy. This social media app that was removed joins a number off other apps that have been removed from Google Play Store for various reasons. This is the popular Bolo Indya app and it was removed after certain accusations were made against it. Google Play Store moved to remove Bolo Indya due to a copyright infringement complaint filed by a music company, Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd, also known as T-Series. After this, in their respective reactions, words like 'habitual offender', 'bad faith' are flying.

T-Series had served an infringement notice to various social media and video sharing platforms about a year ago to pay around 3.5 crore in damages arising from the use of its copyrighted contents, reported PTI. While some of the companies have settled the row with T-Series, the same was not the case with Bolo Indya, which was still to come to terms with the demands of the music company.

In his reaction, T-Series President Neeraj Kalyan said, "Bolo Indya is a habitual offender and we had sent them various legal notices but they continued to infringe our copyrights and, thus, we wrote to Google under applicable laws to take down this infringing app from their app store."

The T-Series President added, "We take infringement very seriously and will not shy away from taking more stringent legal action against Bolo Indya and any other such infringing platforms to protect our copyrights." He was speaking to news agency PTI.

Bolo Indya, which has as many as 70 lakh users, is considered as a strong Indian rival of Chinese short video platform TikTok, said that it is temporarily unavailable on Google Play Store due to some conflicts with T-Series.

Its spokesperson said, "T-Series acted in bad faith by ignoring our communication to them to discuss content licensing, and by this move, they are only discouraging the early stage start-ups."

The spokesperson added, "However, we are in talks with T-Series and Google to resolve the issue at the earliest and the platform will be back on Play Store shortly. We assure our users that all their created content and transaction details for in-app currency purchases are safe, and Bolo Indya will be back soon on Play Store."

Google, on its part, has not made any comments over this simmering issue between T-series and Bolo Indya, which has now boiled over. What are your thoughts on this T-Series vs Bolo Indya issue? Do let us know in the comments section below.
