Google Chrome has a solution for those who keep 100 tabs open

Google is making it easier to manage tabs on Chrome with a new feature called “tab groups”. This is first available in the beta version of Chrome, and it will start rolling out for all users next week onwards.

As the name suggests, users will now be able to categorise tabs on Chrome. This can come helpful especially to those who have multiple tabs open at once on Chrome. It can also work for those who usually keep only a few tabs open. With the new feature users can group tabs together and label them with a custom name and colour as well. Google also lets users move the grouped tabs around and arrange them.

To do this, users have to simply right click on the tab and select “Add tab to group” then select “New group”. Once tab groups are created users can add those tabs to groups as required. Colour coding makes it easier to recognise which tabs fall where.

Google also suggests naming tab groups as “ASAP”, “this week” and “later”. Users can also name groups with emojis to make it simpler. “Group tabs by topic, urgency, progress, etc. It’s up to you how to group them,” Google said in a blog post.

Google has been testing tab groups for months now and it will finally be available for all users. It will be available with the new desktop version of Chrome that will start rolling out next week for Chrome OS, Windows, Mac and Linux.
