From lockdown 4.0 to vaccine: What India searched for in May

The Covid-19 pandemic has locked everyone inside their homes. Amid the circumstances, Google has been releasing Search trends that give us a glimpse into the collective interests of people in India. Now, the company has shared insights into what people in the country searched for in the month of May.

And guess what they searched for?

According to Google “Lockdown 4.0” was the most searched topic in May, which was followed by “Eid Mubarak” on the second spot. While the search interest for “coronavirus lockdown zones Delhi” spiked over 1,800% in May, search for “Italy coronavirus vaccine” spiked over 750%. Interestingly, while the search interest for coronavirus was half the monthly volume for April, yet it was five times more searched than Cricket. Apart from this, the search for “Vaccine” too spiked in the month of May. Google notes that the search for a coronavirus-related vaccine increased by over 190% in May with the daily peak being May 6.

Coming to other Search trends in India, “Which disease is related to coronavirus?” became the top trending question for coronavirus in the month of May, while “What is vaccine?” became the most searched question pertaining to vaccines in the month. Additionally, Goa became the most searched for state pertaining to coronavirus, while Patal Lok became the most searched for movie in the month.
