The report also says that the company has also started informing users who are using the older version of its Google Pay app that they would not be able to send, receive or transfer money starting April 5. As far as the remaining balance in users’ Google Pay accounts is concerned, the report says users will have to access their balance with the updated app or transfer it to their bank account manually using Google Support.

In addition to this, older Google Pay apps on Android, iOS and on the web will no longer be able to show users’ recent activity and transactions.

It is worth noting that while users may not be able to send or receive money and view their transaction history, they will still be able to use basic functions such as accessing their digital wallets, which includes credit and debit cards and membership passes among other things.

All said and done, while the old apps won’t be entirely dead, their limited usability will make them redundant for Google Pay users. Users are advised to update the Google Pay app on their smartphones to keep using all its features.
