Save your mobile from dangerous phishing email! Here is how to report it to Google

Your mobile is under constant threat of being hacked. Hackers are trying to steal your money, your data and anything else that may be valuable. For that they keep creating malware, or try to dupe you with other tricks like sending emails that look legitimate, but are actually fake. For instance, you may get an email from what looks like is your bank and when you click on it, it takes you to a website that also looks like it belongs to your bank. However, beware! That website is fake and is designed to mimic that of your bank.

Many users click on the links in these emails and they end up losing money. So, even though mobiles are very useful gadgets, they can become very harmful to users. The idea is to be aware of what is happening and recognising that there is an attempt being made to steal from you. For users, this means knowing the tricks that hackers use. So, here we provide a list by Google that describes what is phishing and what you can do to avoid this scam.

What is phishing?

According to Google, "A phishing attack happens when someone tries to trick you into sharing personal information online. Phishing is usually done through email, ads, or by sites that look similar to sites you already use."

Google reveals the details about what Phishing emails or sites might ask for in order to steal from you - you must never provide this data to anyone at all. Check full list of what you must not provide to anyone. 

* Usernames and passwords, including password changes

* Social security scheme numbers

* Bank account numbers

* PINs

* Debit and Credit card numbers

* Your mother’s maiden name

* Your birthday

One thing that everyone should always remember is that no legitimate business, be it your bank, gmail, Safari, or ecommerce sites like Amazon and Flipkart, will ever ask you these details. These are private details that only the user should know and no one else. So, next time you get a phishing email, recognise it for what it is and delete it immediately.
