SBI customers are being warned about the danger of downloading apps on the recommendation of strangers. Even though online banking has become a blessing now due to the threat posed to everyone's health by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the popularity of this form of financial transactions has also attracted cybercriminals who are constantly trying to steal money from people. They are generally unaware of the intentions of these criminals and there is a big danger of their falling victim to online banking scams. To prevent its account holders from losing their money due to mistakes they may make while interacting with cybercriminals, the State Bank of India (SBI) took to Twitter and posted a tweet warning its customers not to do one thing - download certain apps that are risky.

SBI took to Twitter and posted this message for the benefit of its account holders. It tweeted, "Your security is our priority. To ensure your personal financial details remain secure, download apps only from certified sources. Do not download any apps on the say-so of unknown persons. Be careful! Stay safe!"

SBI then goes on to explain the reason why account holders need to take this online precaution. SBI said, "Under no circumstance should you download any app on the recommendation of any unknown person. It may be possible that it may be reading your OTP/PIN/CVV messages."

SBI tweet highlighted the message through hashtags too, just to make sure the message is rammed home in the minds of its customers. It used these 4 - #CyberSafety #StayAlert #StaySafe #OnlineScam

Check out SBI tweet below:

So, what really happens when an SBI customer actually downloads a questionable app. Well, the cybercriminal will get all the details about the account and may use the same to steal the money that is there.

Another precaution that SBI wants its customers to take is regarding passwords. It has posted this message, "Practicing simple steps or precautions will keep you safe from the virus. Similarly, appropriate use and management of online passwords will help you stay away from frauds." Through this message it wants to convey that customers should change their passwords frequently in order to keep risk away, the same way that vaccination will keep coronavirus at bey.
