Tech Wrap: Sony PS5 event, Twitter Fleets in India and more

Sony had postponed its PS5 event due to the protests in the US. It has now announced a new date for the event. Flipkart introduced a voice assistant on its mobile apps, while Aarogya Setu reached 3 crore users on Jio Phones.

PS5 event

Sony’s PS5 event will now take place on June 11. As announced before, Sony will showcase the first games arriving on PS5 later this year. Sony has also recommended using headphones for the event as it has a “cool audio work”.

Flipkart voice assistant

Flipkart has launched a voice assistant for its Android and iOS apps. Called ‘Flipkart Saathi’, the voice assistant is available in English and Hindi. It can be used in Flipkart’s grocery store, Supermart.

Aarogya Setu on Jio Phones

Aarogya Setu launched on KaiOS for Jio Phones last month. The government announced today that the app has already reached 3 crore users. This is after PM Modi announced Aarogya Setu has 10 crore users. The contact tracing app can be downloaded on Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2.

Google Maps x Amitabh Bachchan

You could soon hear Amitabh Bachchan’s voice for navigation on Google Maps. The Bollywood actor has reportedly been approached by Google for his voice on Maps. There’s no confirmation though on whether he has agreed to lend his voice for Google Maps in India.

Twitter Fleets

Twitter’s take on Instagram Stories is now rolling out in India. Twitter Fleets are posts that disappear after 24 hours, and are displayed on top of the user’s timeline. Users can reply to Fleets only if that user’s DMs are open. Twitter Fleets will be available to Android and iOS users in India soon. So far this feature is available for testing only in Italy and Brazil.
