After introducing the Vivo V23 series recently, the chinese phone company is now targeting the midrange segment with its latest T1 5G series. Vivo is aiming to focus on performance at affordable prices in T1 5G. The base variant of the phone with 4GB/128GB storage is priced at Rs. 15,990. Though the phone has focussed on better performance and nice build quality, we can't ignore some features that seem a little out of date. So, will it go up against the Redmi Note and Realme number series?

While Vivo boast it as the fastest smart phone with Snapdragon 695 chipset at this price range, it lacks the display quality and some other features like charging support that are being offered by its competitors. The phone lacks  AMOLED screen, however, it tried to compensates with a full HD+ LCD display with 120 HZ refresh rate. Here are the Vivo T1 5G first impressions:

Let's start with the packaging. The phone comes in a box along with a charger and a decent back cover. This means you don't need to spend extra bucks to get a phone cover. Vivo T1 5G is available in two different colours: Rainbow fantasy (blue, grey and pink) and starlight black (black).

As stated, the design of Vivo T1 5G is almost similar to the recently launched Vivo Y75 5G. The phone has got a plastic body but it looks nice with a radiant back in its Rainbow fantasy variant. The phone will make a solid impression on you if you are into the whole 'colour changing back' concept as it shifts colour depending on the angle of light falling on it. The phone has a massive rectangular camera unit on the top left corner with a flash. There is 5G and Triple Camera branding there too. The back as well as the sides are flat which make it easy to hold.

The front of the Vivo T1 5G is dominated by a LCD display which might be a disappointment as we have seen AMOLED displays in this segment. The bezels are pretty thin but yes we have seen slimmer bezels and chin on similarly priced Redmi phones and Realme phones. Additionally, Vivo has gone for a dated drop notch design, which is weird, considering these days most phones in this price range go for the punch hole cut out designs. The phone is slim and lightweight despite having a 5000mAh battery thanks to its plastic build. It weighs 187 grams, 8.25 mm thin. The power and volume buttons are given on the right of the plastic frame, while the left side is blank. The fingerprint scanner is integrated on the power button and is quite responsive.

The phone offers the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset with an integrated CPU with a clock speed of up to 2.2 GHz for a better performance as Vivo says. We have already seen Snapdragon 695 Chipset in Moto G71 5G and it left us quite impress. The phone comes in three storage variants - 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage, 6GB with 128GB storage and 4GB with 128GB. The storage can also be expanded up to 1 TB by using a microSD card.

The Phone runs on Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 12 . The interface feels fresh. The phone do have a number of preinstalled apps on the device including Moj, Josh, MX Takatak, Cred, Koo, Share Chat, and others. However, you can uninstall them to free up some storage space if needed.

Since, the Vivo T1 phone is touted as 5G phone, it is quite disappointment that the phone supports just two 5G bands. Other competing phones such as the Moto G71 5G in this range offers more 5G band support.

The smartphone is equipped with a 50 MP Main Camera with f 1.8 aperture, a 2MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro sensor with f 2.4 aperture. For selfies, this one has a 16MP camera with f 2.0 aperture. I will say that the camera is not bad, but not on par with the competition . The 50-megapixel main sensor delivers great detail, however, there is very low ultrawide camera as compared to Moto G 71 and Redmi Note 11T 5G.

The phone is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery which gives quite good power backup up to a day and half on single charge. I have been watching videos, movies and playing games all day long on the T1 5G. However, the 18W charging is not as fast as most other charging systems offered by its rival Redmi, Realme. Vivo clearly cut a lot of corners just to accommodate Snapdragon 695 chipset.

Vivo T1 5G first impressions

Vivo tried to offer a better performance, high refresh rate display, multiple cameras and a high-capacity battery to boot. But it lacks on AMOLED display, fast charging support and number of 5G bands. Since, Snapdragon 695 chip offers a balanced performance, the gamers can look forward to buy T1 5G to satiate your gaming needs.
