What are planetary conjunctions?

The planets actually are awlays too far from each other. Hence, planetary conjunction simply signifies that two planets appear close together in Earth's night sky. Thankfully, in the case of our Earth's solar system, such planetary conjunctions happen way too frequently because our sister planets travel around the Sun in an almost similar ecliptic plane. Which makes them appear often in our night sky despite being millions of miles away from each other.

How to catch Mars, Jupiter Conjunction

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shared that the two planets will appear 20 degrees or so above the horizon in the eastern-southeastern sky, against the constellation Pisces. The appearance will be approximately 45 minutes before local sunrise. You can have the view of this Mars, Jupiter conjunction barring the local weather issues, in the early hours of each morning from May 27 to May 30, 2022. Well, to have the best spectacular view of the Mars-Jupiter conjunction, NASA said that it will peak at 3:57 a.m. CDT on May 29.

Well, the question is, will you be able to catch this rare phenomenon with naked eyes? Well, a pair of binoculars or a telescope might be needed to spot Mars clearly, Alphonse Sterling, a NASA astronomer said. But to observe Jupiter with unaided eyes, there should be no trouble. Enjoy this once in a while celestial event for sure!
