Google Chats will now shield you from hackers! Google has announced that from now on you will find a warning notification in Google Chats about potential phishing and malware attacks directed at them. This tweak in Google Chat app is the latest attempt to combat phishing attacks and other forms of hacking attempts.

"In Google Chat, you’ll see banners warning against potential phishing and malware messages coming from users with personal Google Accounts," Google said in a blog post. Google further added that these warning banners which help protect users against malicious actors, keeping data safe, are already available in Gmail and Google Drive. Google Chat has recently replaced Hangouts as the messaging tool and now has a new protection tool. Also Read: Do you have these apps banned from iPhones and Android phones? Delete them now

In Gmail, these warning banners are displayed when users respond to emails coming from outside the organisation to inform you about the authenticity of the email or sender. But now, Android warning banners will also be displayed when you receive any new messages from external recipients. Though, admins of an organisation can turn these specific warning labels on or off for their respective organizations. Also read: Forget internet, here is how to use Google Maps offline

Recently, at its 2022 I/O developer conference, Google discussed several security measures that have been implemented to enhance the safety of the users. This includes warnings against potential security issues as well as recommendations to fix them. Besides these, Google also introduced other plans for security measures, such as expanded two-step verification, ad customization, and other data security. This will help users to gain more control over how their data is used by its applications.

Google informed that this new feature of warning banners against phishing attacks and potential malware, will be rolling out over the next couple of weeks to all users starting from May 19, 2022. The feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business users. In addition to these, users with personal Google accounts will also receive this latest feature.

In addition to the security feature, Google also released the second Beta of its Android 13 operating system. This offers a bunch of new features and user controls options. Additionally, there will be updates for privacy and security aspects too.
