Recently, Al Gore, a former vice president of the US and a member of Apple's board, said that 'new iPhones' will launch in October.
iPhones. Plural. Does that mean we could look at iPhone 5 and another version namely iPhone 4S to be launched simultaneously at the launch? The next iPhone should be powered by iOS 5 and Apple is expected to announce the availability of the new iOS too on October 4. And as history proves it, the new OS should also support iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

The October 4 event will be Apple's first media event after Steve Jobs resigned from CEO's post. Hence the current CEO Tim Cook will likely deliver the keynote address, made famous by Jobs.

Sleeker Design -

Apple is a famous for "getting rid of the flab". Thus, a thinner iPhone should not be too far.

Shatter Proof Screen -

iPhone 4's existing Aluminosilicate glass is already pretty resilient. Nonetheless, a touch screen can never be strong enough for a phone that costs 40,000.

Extended Battery life -

With the enormous screen, beautiful Retina Display and a gamut of apps make sure you spend hours at end on the phone. A more extended battery life is what is needed to keep the iPhone going for at least a day.

FaceTime on 3G -

FaceTime is one of the best features to ever come with the iPhone, but its only possible with WiFi. It's time Apple released that restriction.

Mobile Hotspots -

Nowadays almost everybody has multiple devices that can go online using WiFi. And a WiFi network is most desirable while on the run. We hope Apple finally adds the possibility of converting an iPhone's 3G connection into a mobile hotspot, a feature that's been popularised by the top-end Android phones.

Wireless Printing -

With iCloud helping to share data between an iPhone and a PC/Mac wirelessly, printing documents existing on the iPhone wirelessly to a printer is a hopeful add-on.

4G enabled -

3G is passé, everyone is already talking about the 4G and its supersonic speed to use internet on-the-go. Of course, it's a different proposing that India is yet to make use of the 4G network. But then again, when was the last time Apple cared about India?

Better Reception -

iPhone4 was the talk of the town for all the wrong reason - bad connectivity, hoping to see a drastic improvement. AntennaGate, remember?

Faster Processor -

With all the heavy duty add-ons we are hoping to see on our new iPhone,it won't be able to survive without a faster processor. Going by the rumor mill, we might see the iPad 2 processor A5 chip been installed in iPhone 5 too.

To top it all, reports are surfacing that the next iPhone will come with a feature called Assistant that will enable a number of voice-based commands and allow users to 'talk' to their phone. Apple has even titled October 4 as 'let's talk iPhone' something that hints at the possibility of Assistant.
