Google has launched a new kids mode on select Android tablets. Google Kids Space will feature apps, books and videos for kids. This new Kids Space will roll out to Lenovo tablets first, and it will be available for more Android tablets soon.

In the Google Kids Space, parents can choose different interests and content will be displayed accordingly. There are different options like animals, arts & crafts, science & nature, homework help and stories & writing. There's also an option for kids to create their own character in this mode. Google lets you customise the character with different costume options, facial features, and accessories as well.

Google Kids Space has different tabs starting with home, games, books, videos, and arts and crafts. On the home screen, there will be a list of recommendations based on the kid's interests. Google will recommend different games, videos to watch, fun facts and even silly jokes.

Google Play has a kids section that features “teacher-approved” apps. The same has been done in Kids Space for its library of apps and books. Google also worked with top publishers to make children's books free of charge. In the US there are over 400 free books. Kids Space incorporates other Google products as well. It will feature videos from YouTube Kids in the Watch and Make tabs. At the same time, additional content can be downloaded from Google Play too.

Google has so far launched Family Link for parents to have more control over their kids' online experiences. There's also a kids tab in the Play Store. Kids Space is the latest dedicated product for kids. It will be available first on the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 HD Gen 2.
