Gmail finally fixes its annoying Spam Filter bug that let promotional emails enter your primary inbox

Gmail, Google’s one of the most widely used email clients is finally getting rid of the annoying bug that let spam emails directly enter the primary Inbox. This means that the bug let anyone send marketing and promotional emails, which Gmail usually automatically places in the ‘Spam’ folder, show up directly in the primary inbox, making the experience bad for some users. However, the bug that existed for a few days, has now been fixed as per Google. The search giant even gave a statement addressing it.

In the statement, the Google spokesperson said that the firm has identified the issue and has fixed it. It was added that during this, other features such as link protections and download time security scans stayed intact. “We have identified and since fixed the issue of a small number of promotional emails and spam being incorrectly sent to users' primary inboxes. During this time, scans to filter malware and the most egregious spam and harmful content remained fully operational. Additionally, Gmail users remained protected by the many other features such as link protections and download time security scans which apply for messages in the inbox,” said the spokesperson to Android Police.

Google reassures that none of the Gmail accounts were compromised due to this bug.”We have no reason to believe any accounts were compromised as a result. If you happen to notice a suspicious email, we encourage you to report it as spam. More information on how to report spam can be found by visiting our Help Center,” spokesperson added.

You too can recognise a suspicious link by checking the sender’s email ID, subject of the email and the content.
