The new Galaxy Tab 4 tablets range from 7 inches to 10.1 inches in screen size and are designed for mobility and affordability.

The new range won't come as a surprise to anyone with even a passing interest in technology news. Their existence has been leaked all over the net over the past week or so.

However, now that Samsung has officially confirmed the tablets are coming and has released more information ahead of their launch at the end of April, there is still something left to get excited about.

And that's because despite their being lower-specification products, Samsung hasn't skimped on design. The tablets have thin bezels and good quality screens, and while the internal specifications aren't enough to give Apple's tablet team sleepless nights, they will still be great for running multiple apps and for watching video.
And, because all of them come with LTE/4G connectivity as standard, owners may well be tempted to use them out and about.

Although consumers will have a choice of a white or black finish and of a 7-inch, 8-inch or 10.1-inch display, the processor -- a 1.2GHz quad-core chip -- and onboard RAM (1.5GB) are the same across all devices. As is the inclusion of Android KitKat -- the latest version of the open source operating system.

Other features include 16GB of internal storage as standard (expandable via MicroSD card) and a 3-megapixel rear-facing and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Samsung won't be revealing the full specs or pricing until April 24 but the suggestions are that the new range will act as a direct replacement for the existing Tab 3 line of tablets. So, expect the 8-inch model to retail for roughly $300 (€299 in Europe) and the 7-inch model to debut for as little as $200 (€199).
