Many of them could have been saved if only the authorities like police and hospitals were informed on time. However, during and in the aftermath of an accident, there is often nothing that the injured can do except hope and wait for ambulance to arrive. Now, just imagine if there was an automatic warning system that would alert authorities. It would be a boon. In fact, iPhone 14 Crash Detection feature will come in very useful during such fraught times as it will automatically send warnings to authorities as it can detect car crashes. Apple has introduced Crash Detection- a new safety feature in its recently launched iPhone 14 models (iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max) and Apple Watch models (Watch Series 8, Watch SE, Watch Ultra). Here is all you need to know about the Crash Detection feature. ### What is Crash Detection feature By the name itself you can guess that the feature will detect crashes. If your car meets a severe accident and if you are using any of the iPhone 14 models, the Apple device will detect the crash and will automatically help you connect to emergency services and notify your emergency contacts. ### How Crash Detection works According to the information provided by Apple, when your iPhone detects a severe car crash, it will display an alert and will automatically initiate an emergency phone call after 20 seconds unless you cancel. Also read click here. If you are unresponsive, your iPhone will play an audio message for emergency services, which informs them that you have been in a severe crash and gives them your latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates with an approximate search radius. When a crash is detected, Crash Detection will not override any existing emergency calls placed by other means. Also, if your iPhone has Crash Detection turned on and is connected to your vehicle through CarPlay, the Crash Detection features (dialing emergency services) will go through your iPhone. While, if you are wearing your Apple Watch at the time of the event, dialing emergency services will be placed by iPhone but Crash Detection features will be routed through Apple Watch. Here is how you can Crash Detection on or Off: ### How to turn Crash Detection on or off 1. Crash Detection is on by default. 2. You can turn off alerts and automatic emergency calls from Apple after a severe car crash by going to Settings. 3. You will have to then select Emergency SOS, then turn off Call After Severe Crash. 4. If you have third-party apps registered to detect crashes on your device, they will still be notified.
