2022 is expected to experience two lunar eclipses. The upcoming Chandra Grahan is going to be visible from select regions only. Now, depending on location, the eclipse can be a total one or penumbral. Penumbral eclipse occurs when the edge of the shadow of our Earth is cast over the Moon. The full eclipse is expected to be visible from portions of the Americas, Antarctica, Europe, Africa and the east Pacific, while people living in New Zealand, Eastern Europe and the Middle East will be able to experience the penumbral eclipse.

Lunar Eclipse 2022 date and time

This partial lunar eclipse is expected to take place on May 15 at 10:28 p.m. EDT. The total eclipse phase, Blood Moon, is expected to take place at around 12:11 a.m. EDT on the same day and the eclipse may end around 1:55 a.m. EDT. The Chandra Grahan may be observed an hour earlier. Roughly, the penumbral eclipse may begin an hour after the partial one.

While there are guidelines to observe a solar eclipse, Lunar eclipse is completely safe. One can observe it through naked eyes harmlessly. Additionally, lunar eclipses can last for longer hours in comparison to the solar eclipse. However, if the weather conditions are not good, then it will be difficult to observe anything.
