The Shot on iPhone Challenge begins for macro photography. Know the last entry dates and who can participate.

Do you love macro photography? If so, you now have a chance to flaunt your skills using the new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Apple is hosting the Shot on iPhone Challenge that starts now and will go on until February 16, 2022. The challenge? Take your iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max, click the nicest macro photos you can with its cameras, share it on social media tagging Apple, and you could win the competition.

Wonder what's the prize? Your prized macro photo will be put up in a gallery for the world to see, as well as feature on Apple's promotional campaigns.

What are the requirements? Anybody owning an iPhone 13 Pro can participate n the contest and see their photos getting featured on Apple's portals. Apple has also shared certain tips for users to take the best of photos and win the challenge.

Note that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are the only two iPhones that support the macro photography feature. One can go up to 2 cm close to the subject.

Shot on iPhone Challenge: How to participate

  • You will need to follow these steps.
  • Take your macro photos and share them on Instagram and Twitter.
  • You will need to use the hashtags #ShotoniPhone and #iPhonemacrochallenge to participate in this challenge.
  • One you upload and quality, a panel of judges from the industry will review all submissions worldwide and select 10 photos as winners.

Tips from Apple to take better macro photos on iPhone

Step 1: Ensure to get very close to your subject. You can get as close as 2 cm (about an inch) away.
Step 2: Place the primary point of focus near the centre of the frame, as that’s where the sharpest focus is when shooting in macro on iPhone 13 Pro/ Pro Max.
Step 3: You should always tap an area in the viewfinder to set a specific focus point.
Step 4: You should shoot at .5x to capture an Ultra Wide field of view, or try shooting at 1x for tighter framing. Your iPhone 13 Pro/Max will automatically switch cameras as you get close while maintaining the 1x framing.
