Aadhaar card is one of the most important documents that people need to complete most official work in India. However, it is not always easy to carry an Aadhaar card because of its size, threat of it getting lost and there is always a lot of wear and tear on it if it is constantly carried around and handled. Hence, to deal with these problems and to make it easy to carry the card anywhere, UIDAI has introduced the Aadhaar PVC card which is much smaller, portable, and more durable. In its latest update, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has shown how users can order Aadhaar PVC cards for the whole family even by using their non-registered mobile numbers. The UIDAI has made the announcement via tweet, “You can use any mobile number to receive OTP for authentication, regardless of the registered mobile number with your Aadhaar. So, one person can order Aadhaar PVC cards online for the whole family.”

What is an Aadhaar PVC card?

Aadhaar PVC Card is the same Aadhaar card that we are using- the information on it is the same. However, it's a much more secured and modified version which is easy to carry and comes with better security features. It's durable and features digitally signed secure QR code with photograph and demographic details along with other multiple security features.

How to get an Aadhaar PVC card?

You can order an Aadhaar PVC card online through uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in by using your Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or Enrolment ID. Users are required a nominal charge of ₹50. It is delivered to the resident's address by speed post.

Step-by-step process to order Aadhaar PVC Card online by using a non-registered mobile number

Step 1:

Go to the official website of UIDAI www.uidai.gov.in or www.resident.uidai.gov.in. 

Step 2:

On the homepage, select the ‘Order Aadhaar Card’ service. 

Step 3:

Key in your 12-digit Aadhaar Card (UID) number / 16-digit Virtual Identification (VID) number/ 28-digit Aadhaar enrolment number in the provided space.

Step 4:

Complete the security verification process, by submitting a time-based one-time password with the ‘TOTP’ option, or a one-time password with the ‘OTP’ option receive. 

Step 5:

Review your Aadhaar details and ensure the details are correctly mentioned. Now, confirm the order for printing.

Step 6:

Make the payment of processing fee i.e, ₹50 (Inclusive GST and postal charges) via credit, debit card, UPI, or net banking.

Step 7:

Download the receipt with digital signature on screen and service request number on SMS. The Aadhaar PVC will be delivered to you.
