Here is all you need to know about WhatsApp admin delete and status updates. (Pixabay)

WhatsApp is giving more powers to the group admins. The online messaging app is rolling out a new update on Thursday, September 1, through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.19.17. With this update WhatsApp is releasing admin delete and status updates within the chat list to more beta testers. Informing about the same, WABetaInfo tweeted, "WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.17: what's new? WhatsApp is releasing admin delete and status updates within the chat list to more beta testers today!"

Earlier it was informed that WhatsApp was releasing to group admins the ability to delete other participants' messages for everyone in their groups. However, this feature was limited to certain beta testers. But now with the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.17 update, more group admins will be able to use the feature from today. "This feature was limited to certain beta testers but thanks to the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.17 update, more group admins are finally able to use the feature today!," WABetaInfo said in a report.

How to check if you get the admin delete feature

In order to find out if the admin delete feature is enabled for your account all you need to do is just try to delete a message sent from another participant within a group where you are an admin.

If the feature is enabled to your account, when you try to delete the message sent by another participant in the group, you will get the option saying “delete for everyone”.

"In addition, a test for people that use stable releases of the app is now available so group admins on non-beta versions may be able to delete messages for everyone as well," WABetaInfo informed.

The report further stated that WhatsApp is also releasing the ability to view the status updates right within the chat list. It can be noted that this feature was earlier limited to some beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.18.17 update. But now, it is being rolled out for more users.

Also, if you do not like viewing them within the chat list and you do not use status updates, then in such cases you can mute status updates from the status tab. Once you mute the status updates, it will not show up within the chat list.

What is Delete messages for everyone

The feature called deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete specific messages you have sent to an individual or group chat. This is particularly useful if you sent a message to the wrong chat or if the message you sent contains a mistake. Once you delete a message for everyone, the text of the message gets replaced with the message saying "This message was deleted".
