Almost everyone owns a debit card. It is used to make payments and withdraw cash from ATMs. But what if your debit cum ATM cards get stolen or lost? If you are a customer of the State Bank of India (SBI) and have lost your SBI debit card then you can know that the bank provides the facility to block the SBI ATM cum debit card via phone calls, SMS, and internet banking. However, if due to some reasons these methods fail, you can even visit the bank's nearest branch and get your card blocked. Want to know the process? Check the step-by-step guide below:

Block SBI debit card via SMS

In order to block your SBI ATM cum debit card via a text message, you will have to send an SMS from your registered mobile number as 'BLOCK<space>last four digits of the card to 567676. Block SBI debit card via toll-free IVR system

1. Dial 1800 1234 or 1800-2100.

2. In order to block the SBI card, you need to press 2.

3. You will then have to enter the last 5 digits of the account number to block the card.

4. On following the above mentioned steps accurately, your card will be successfully blocked and a confirmation will be sent through SMS to your registered mobile number.

Block SBI debit card via SBI online

1. You will have to login to www.onlinesbi.com with your username and password.

2. Under the "e-Services" tab select "ATM Card Services>Block ATM Card" link .

3. Select the Account, under which you want to block your ATM cum Debit Card.

4. All the Active and blocked cards will be displayed. You will be shown the first 4 and last 4 digits of the card(s).

5. Select the Card, you wish to block and click "Submit". You need to verify the details and confirm.

6. Select the mode of authentication as either SMS OTP or Profile Password.

7. On the next screen, enter the OTP password /Profile password as chosen earlier and Click "Confirm".

8. After the above mentioned steps are followed accurately, a success message would be displayed with a Ticket Number after successful blocking of your ATM cum Debit Card. Note this Ticket No. for future reference.

It can be known that you can even request the bank to reissue a new SBI debit card. It needs to be noted that a replacement fee of Rs. 100 along with taxes will be charged, as per a report by livemint.com. Also, once the request to reissue/replace the card has been made, you will get the new card in 7 working days. However, the duration is not fixed, it may take some more time depending upon several factors like location.

Step 1:

Go to the official website of SBI or click on the link- sbicard.com.

Step 2:

Now, tap on the ‘Request' option.

Step 3:

Then, click on 'Reissue/Replace Card'

Step 4:

Select the card number and click on ‘Submit’.
