The teams will be divided into groups of four and the winner of each group will advance to the quarterfinal whereas the teams finishing 2nd and 3rd will play in a crossover round. Belgium will be looking to retain their World Cup mantle which they won in 2018.

Shockingly, Pakistan, despite being the most successful team in the history of the Men's Hockey World Cup, have failed to qualify for the 2023 edition of the FIH Men's Hockey World Cup.

India will be in action against Spain in their first match tomorrow, January 13 at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela. The match will begin at 7:00 PM IST.
