Here’s how you can undo hidden chats on WhatsApp

Very recently WhatsApp added a handy new feature to the platform. It expanded its chat archive feature to groups. This feature was thus far restricted only to individual chats. With this upgrade, WhatsApp users can now ‘hide' group chats as well making it easier to organise and manage WhatsApp conversations better. And if you are like us, people who use WhatsApp for work as well as to keep in touch with friends and family, this archive/hide option is super helpful.

We've told you earlier how to archive a chat and organise your WhatsApp conversations better. Now, for any reason, if you need to undo that, here's what needs to be done. This would be a good time to remind you that thanks to one of the other new features on WhatsApp if you have archived a chat, be it a group chat or individual chat, you will not be notified if you receive a new message on that chat unless you are mentioned or someone replies to you. These new chats will also not resurface in your inbox but will remain in the archived section. Also, archiving a chat does not mean that it has been deleted or backed up in the SD card.

Now, to remove chats or groups from WhatsApp Archives, follow these steps:

- Open WhatsApp and go to the ‘Chats' section.

- Here tap on the ‘Archive' option.

- Next, tap and hold on the chat you want to unarchive.

- Choose the unarchive option.

This will bring this chat back into your inbox like your all other normal chats and you can access it like all others. You will also start receiving notifications if you get a new message on these chats once they are unarchived.

Archiving chats helps declutter your WhatsApp and can help you prioritise on what messages are more important to you - be it work or personal. And since you will keep receiving the latest messages whether the chat even when the chat is archived, you can always head over to the Archive section and read them there.
