Netflix is one of the most popular platforms for streaming shows and movies. From regional content to international hits to original movies and shows and even cartoons, Netflix has something for everyone. But finding the right content -- TV series, movies, documentaries as per your liking can be quite a challenge. Thankfully, there's a simple way by which you can train Netflix to recommend movies and shows as per your likes. Here's a detailed guide for you that will help you make the most of Netflix.

1. Start with what you like

Netflix's algorithm gets better as you keep watching content that you enjoy the most. So, if you like horror movies the most, you should keep watching more such shows and movies to help Netflix understand your likes and dislikes better. Also, right after you create your profile, you can select three or more films and/or series that interest you the most.

2. Thumbs up or thumbs down a film or a series

You can also let Netflix know the kind of shows and movies that you like by giving a thumbs up or thumbs down to the movies and shows that Netflix recommends. Each time you give a film or series a thumbs up, Netflix is likely to recommend you similar stories. Similarly, when you give a thumbs down, you clearly signal that this wasn't your favourite, so Netflix is less likely to recommend you something similar in the future. Here's how you can do it:

-- On Netflix via browser: Place the cursor on the title you want to rate and select the ‘thumbs up/thumbs down' icon.

-- On mobile: For Android, select the title you want to rate > select ‘Details & More' > then tap on the ‘rate' option to select the ‘thumbs up/thumbs down' icon. For iOS, select the title you want to rate > tap on the ‘rate' option > select the ‘thumbs up/thumbs down' icon.

-- On TV: Choose the title you want to rate and then select the ‘thumbs up/thumbs down' option.

3. Add films and series to ‘My List'

You can also let Netflix know what you like by adding the content that you do like to ‘My List' on your profile. When you add titles to your list, Netflix learns your preferences better and recommends more such series and films. Here's a guide for you:

-- On Netflix via browser: Place the cursor on the title you want to add and select the ‘plus' icon.

-- On mobile: For Android - select the title you want to add, select ‘Details & More' and then tap on the ‘plus' icon; for iOS - select the title you want to add and tap on the ‘plus' icon.

-- On TV: Select the title you want to add and then select the ‘Add to My List' option.

4. Create different profiles

Another thing that you can do to get personalised recommendations is creating a profile of your own, especially if you share the subscription with a friend or a family member. You can also set a 4-digit PIN on your profile to make absolutely sure no one else is watching from it.
