Google Sheets is an online spreadsheet app that lets you create and format spreadsheets and work with other people. With Google Sheets, you can create and edit spreadsheets directly in your web browser and no special software is required for the same. Also, multiple people can work simultaneously on a single spreadsheet. With multiple people working and maybe because of other reasons you can sometimes come across large spreadsheets with many problems like duplicate entries. Deleting each and every duplicate entry manually is not only difficult but also a time consuming task. However, Google Sheets duplicate entries can be dealt with easily.

With the help of conditional formatting, it becomes easy for Google Sheets users to highlight and remove duplicate entries. Conditional formatting is a built-in-feature of Google Sheets to remove duplicates. If you are not aware of the same and do not know how to use it, then you can follow the below mentioned steps:

How to remove Google Sheets duplicate entries on spreadsheets

1. You will first have to open your Google Sheet.

2. Now, select a column from where you want to remove the duplicates.

3. Then click on Data. Under this you will find an option saying 'Remove duplicates', tap on it.

4. You will now see a pop-up on your screen. Tick the box next to Data has header now.

5. Then click on Remove duplicates and press on Done.

6. If you want to delete other columns, you can repeat the steps mentioned above.

You can also highlight the duplicates in the spreadsheet and ask someone else to delete it. Here is how you can highlight duplicates in a single column.

Step 1: Open your spreadsheet in Google Sheets and select a column.
Step 2: Then click on Format and go to Conditional formatting.
Step 3: Under Format rules, you will have to open the drop-down list and select Custom formula is.
Step 4: Now you will have to enter the value for the custom formula. For example, if you want to select column A then the formula will be: =countif(A1:A,A1)>1.
Step 5: Then select the preferred colour or shade by which you want to highlight from the Formatting styles.
Step 6: Once you are done, you will have to hit Done to highlight the duplicates in a single column.
