With the change of naming scheme of the power button to side button, the ways to take screenshots on an iPhone have also changed. It is still a simple process but varies if you have an iPhone with Touch ID or Face ID. From iPhone SE to iPhone 12, taking screenshots on an iOS device is an easy process. For reference, screenshots are a quick and convenient way to take grabs of particular stuff on the screen like your high score in your favourite game or an important webpage. All you need to do is push some of the buttons at the same time and the screen flashes to save it.
How to take a screenshot on iPhone with Touch ID
If you have an iPhone with Touch ID, or the infamous home button, you need to press the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time. You don't need to hold the buttons in for an extended amount of time. It is just a quick press. If you hold it for a longer duration, nothing will happen.
When you quick press both the buttons, you will hear a camera shutter sound from your phone and a thumbnail preview of the screenshot will appear on the display. You can now either keep it or choose to delete it. Moreover, you can also edit the screenshot and share it.
How to take a screenshot on iPhone with Face ID like iPhone 12 and iPhone 11
If you have an iPhone X or later, you are likely to have Face ID on your device, which means there is no home button. How do you take a screenshot without a home button? Don't panic, we are here to help. You will need to do things just a little differently.
To take a screenshot on your iPhone 12 or iPhone 11, you need to press the volume-up button on the left side of the phone and the sleep/wake button on the right side of the phone, at the same time. Similar to what we said above, you don't need to hold them but just need a quick press. If you get the timing right you will see a screengrab on your display, which you can choose to edit, keep or delete.
