Windows tips: Microsoft Windows is the most widely used operating system in the world for desktop or laptop computers and the company is always adding new features to the operating system with every new major operating system version – Windows 10 also streamlined many of the settings into the System app, some of which were moved there from the Control Panel. Windows 11 goes even further, moving more controls to the Settings app, which makes them somewhat easier for users to find thanks to a more simplified design. However, power users and administrators will find these settings and controls too limited. If you're looking for very specific settings, one of the best ways to find them is to enable the hidden God Mode on Windows 11 or on Windows 10. Note that God Mode is also available on the older versions of Windows, but we have not included them here as they are currently unsupported by Microsoft.

With the arrival of Windows 11, God Mode will come in very handy for power users as Microsoft's settings app might not have all the settings you need and looking through the system searching for the right setting can be bothersome. Some of these settings are buried inside the system for a reason though, so users need to be careful that the settings they change using God Mode don't modify settings they don't want to be changed on the system. The steps to enable God Mode on Windows 10 mentioned below should also work on Windows 11 once the operating system is rolled out on its release date, which is on October 5, or via the Insider Previews that are available for testing now.

Windows tips: How to enable God mode on Windows 11 and Windows 10

Step 1) Press the Windows Key + M to minimise all your open windows and right-click on the desktop. Mouse over New and click on Folder.

Step 2) When Windows asks you to enter a name for the folder, paste this string    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Step 3) Now press the Enter key. The folder name you entered will disappear, and the icon should change to the Control Panel icon.

Step 4) Open the folder to see all of the settings you will need to control Windows as a power user. You can drag these shortcuts to the desktop.

Step 5) To remove the God Mode from your system, delete the God Mode folder from your desktop.
