EPFO has recorded a substantial rise in the number of net subscribers under its ambit. The EPFO has released the provisional payroll data on December 20, 2021, stating that around 12.73 lakh net subscribers were added in October, 2021.The organisation has been updating its members to avail various services online, and keep all their details updated so that they do not lose out. EPFO has instructed its members to update their bank account details in their Universal Account Number (UAN) online too.

Also, as a warning, EPFO has instructed its members to not share personal details like Aadhaar card number, PAN number, UAN number, bank account details or OTP on any social media platform like phone, social media, WhatsApp and others. The EPFO says it never asks anyone to share any such details or deposit any money through WhatsApp or social media, for any service. Furthermore, the EPFO has advised its members to never respond to any calls or messages by strangers that ask for their EPF details. All these steps are required to stop fraudsters.

What is EPF UAN?

EPF UAN stands for Universal Account Number to be allotted by EPFO. The UAN will act as an umbrella for the multiple Member IDs allotted to an individual by different establishments. The idea is to link multiple Member Identification Numbers (Member ID) allotted to a single member under single Universal Account Number. This will help the member to view details of all the Member Identification Numbers (Member ID) linked to it. If a member is already allotted UAN then he / she is required to provide the same on joining new establishment to enable the employer to in-turn mark the new allotted Member Identification Number (Member ID) to the already allotted UAN.

Step 1: Visit the Unified member portal and login with UAN and password.

Step 2: Go to the Manage Tab and select the KYC option from the dropbox.

Step 3: Next, select documents and enter bank account number and IFSC code.

Step 4: Save the new bank details. Once done, it will show ‘KYC pending for approval.’

Step 5: Submit the required documents to your employer for verification.

Step 6: After the employer verifies the required documents verification. KYC will be approved and you will be able to see ‘Digitally Approved KYC.’

Step 7: After successful completion of the entire process, the member will receive confirmation messages from EPFO.
