SBI customer ALERT: Follow these security tips to avoid fraud even while booking online tickets, hotels

Are you an SBI customer? Planning a family trip during the summer vacation? If yes, you need to be cautious while booking online tickets, hotels, among others, as your negligence can lead you to lose your hard earned money to cyber fraud. The State Bank of India (SBI) has asked its customers not to take their security lightly during trips and vacations. Sharing certain safety or security tips to follow SBI tweeted, "Summer vacations are the time for fun-filled family trips. Do NOT take your security lightly during this time. Keep these security tips in mind, stay alert and #SafeWithSBI."

In order to stay safe this travel season, beware of scamsters trying to trick you. Here are the tips shared by SBI:

1. Free could get really expensive: Steer clear from free public Wifi for financial transactions.

2. New places more vigilance: Ask for the swipe machine. Do not hand over your cards to anyone.

3. Click on a link and you could lose it all in a blink: Verify links before making payments or sharing your banking and personal details.

It can be noted that this is not the first time SBI has alerted its customers about cyber fraud. SBI keeps on sharing tips to avoid online frauds and steps to follow while making payments. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) based apps like Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, among others are being used by people to make online payments, recharges, among others. Check out the SBI online fraud warning and tips to avoid cybercrime:

1. SBI has said that people need to enter UPI PIN only while making online payment.

2. UPI PIN is required only for transfer of money and not for receiving. Always verify the mobile number, name and UPI ID before sending any money.

3. Never share UPI PIN with anyone. The scanner should preferably be used for fund transfer.

4. Do not seek resolution from other than official sources. Use App's help section for any payment or technical issue and in case of any discrepancy seek resolution through Bank's Complaint Resolution portal.
