Why? Simply because it would have been such a long and painful exercise and the success would have been a qualified one, if not a downright failure. Well, Apple has been in the mood of spreading love recently, especially when it comes this specific pain point in most of its iPhone users' lives. Yes, we are talking about getting rid of all your duplicate photos courtesy the newly launched iOS 16. iOS 16 made its debut during the Apple WWDC 2022 event, and that too with a slew of features for iPhone users to change their whole experience. From lock screen to updated weather app, there is a lot that iOS 16 has brought for iPhones. One of these is an important feature that will help you save your phone memory while getting rid of repetitive photos. We are talking about the new built-in 'Duplicates' finder with iOS 16 that lets you delete duplicate photos.

With the high-quality camera of your iPhone, there are chances that you end up taking multiple similar kinds of photos, but that eats up the memory unnecessarily. Till now, either long hours of manual selection or the third-party apps have been used to do the job of segregating and removing duplicate photos from iPhones to get some free memory. Now, iOS 16 has made your job easy with the Duplicates feature.

iOS 16 is still months away from being rolled out to iPhone users, including even the latest ones like iPhone 13, and iPhone 12. However, right now you can try the iOS 16 beta version. 9to5Mac has shared how to delete duplicate photos on an iPhone running on iOS 16 beta. Let's have a look.

How to delete duplicate photos on iPhone

Step 1:

Open the Photos app on your iPhone running on iOS 16. 

Step 2:

Now choose the Albums tab available at the bottom. 

Step 3:

Here, from the main Albums screen, you will need to swipe to the bottom and find Utilities. 

Step 4:

Now click on the Duplicates. 

Step 5:

This will allow you to review duplicate matches and then tap Merge to delete duplicate photos. 

Step 6:

To do this more quickly, you can also choose Select in the top right corner to Select All or choose multiple duplicates.

Step 7:

This also allows you to have a closer look at how similar these duplicate photos look.
