Now-a-days Aadhaar card has become an extremely important document in India. It is the most preferred photo identity proof that serves as a mandatory document for several identification processes such as opening of a bank account, getting various social service benefits and more. Since many of us have applied for the card several years ago, our photographs on the card are quite old. This can lead to problems in identification as the face changes with age or perhaps, he original photo itself was blurry. If your Aadhaar card photo is also old then don't worry as you can change or update it. Here is how to change or update your Aadhaar card photo by booking an appointment online.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows Aadhaar card holders to change or update their photo as well as other details like name, date of birth, address, mobile number, email id etc. You can make changes to Aadhaar card by booking an appointment with the the relevant authorities. Users willing to update their photo on the Aadhaar card would need an active mobile number and the details of relevant valid documents for booking an appointment.

Here are simple steps to carry out an Aadhaar card update.

How to change or update your Aadhaar card photo

Step 1:

Visit the official portal of UIDAI at uidai.gov.in or mAadhaar app

Step 2:

Head to My Aadhaar tab available on the homepage and tapp on ‘Book an appointment.’

Step 3:

Next, search for the nearest enrollment centre name via centre name, Pincode, state, district, etc. 

Step 4:

Once done, select the centre as per your preference and proceed to book an appointment. 

Step 5:

Enter the required details and click on “Book Appointment.”

Step 6:

A new page will be opened where you will be required to select the time and date for your Aadhaar Update appointment. 

Step 7:

Complete the entire process. Once done, you will receive your appointment number on the registered number. 

Step 8:

Next, visit the Aadhaar enrolment centre with the appointment number and existing Aadhaar card to get your photo updated on the Aadhaar

Step 9:

Get your photo update on Aadhaar by completing the biometric and others. You will also be required to pay a nominal fee of 25.
