WhatsApp helps you to stay connected with your friends and family. You can use the app not only to send messages online but also to share images, videos, audio, documents, and much more. However, there are instances when you want to take a break from the app, maybe because you want to concentrate on your studies, or some other reasons. Whatever be the reason, if you want to delete the app, you can do so by following a few simple steps. However, what needs to be noted is deleting your WhatsApp account is an irreversible process. "You can delete your account from within WhatsApp. Deleting your account is an irreversible process, which we can't revert even if you perform it by accident," WhatsApp said.

There are certain things you need to know if you delete your account. For instance, you will not be able to regain access to your account thereafter at all. Also, it may take up to 90 days from the beginning of the deletion process to delete your WhatsApp information. Copies of your information may also remain after the 90 days in the backup storage.

Deleting your account does not affect your information related to the groups you created or the information other users have relating to you, such as their copy of the messages you sent them. Also, your information shared with other Meta Companies will also be deleted, according to the information provided by WhatsApp.

How to delete your WhatsApp account on Android

1. Open WhatsApp.

2. Tap More options, then go to Settings - Account - and finally click on Delete my account.

3. Enter your phone number in full international format and tap DELETE MY ACCOUNT.

4. Select a reason for why you are deleting your account in the dropdown.

5. Tap DELETE MY ACCOUNT. It can be noted that deleting your account will delete your account from WhatsApp, erase your message history, remove you from all of your WhatsApp groups, and delete your Google Drive backup.

How to delete your WhatsApp account on iPhone

Step 1:

Open WhatsApp.

Step 2:

Go to Settings > Account > Delete My Account.

Step 3:

Enter your phone number in full international format and tap Delete My Account.
