iPhone 16 was launched on September 9 at the Apple “Its GlowTime’ event. Apple iPhone 16: Design and display

In 2024, Apple has announced a new and stronger design for the iPhone 16 smartphone. It includes a strong back glass, a water- and dust-resistant design, latest-generation Ceramic Shield making it 2x sturdier than previous generation iPhones. Apple redesigned the iPhone 16 from inside and out, if we look at the rear panel, then the iPhone 16 features a vertically placed camera module alongside an LED flashlight. Additionally, the smartphone includes new colour shades of Black, White, Pink, Teal, and Ultramarine which are optimised with a dual-ion exchange process. Apart from design, there are some new additions to the iPhone 16 with a new Action Button in place of the mute button and a new Camera Control button which is integrated with the camera app to access the tools. For display, the iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology and Dynamic Island. The new generation smartphone offers up to 60Hz refresh rate, 2000nits peak brightness, and 2556x1179-pixel resolution at 460 ppi.

With the iPhone 16, Apple has again announced an upgraded dual-camera setup with a 48MP Fusion camera that includes a 2x Telephoto option and a new 12MP Ultra Wide camera with autofocus that also supports macro photography and collects up to 2.6 times more light for improved image quality. It also enables users to capture spatial photos and videos which can be watched on the Apple Vision Pro headset. The main camera enables users to record 4K Dolby Vision videos at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps. It also offers 1080p Dolby Vision video recording at 25 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps. Additionally, with the new Camera Control button, users can easily access Camera app tools such as zoom, exposure, or depth of field. It also enables users to quickly launch the camera app with simple taps and gestures. On the front, the iPhone 16 features a 12MP TrueDepth Camera with autofocus.

To boost performance and integrate on-device AI, Apple has announced the new A18 chip powering the iPhone 16. The chip is built on second-generation 3-nanometer technology and the chipset offers an upgraded 16-core Neural Engine to optimise large generative models and runs ML models up to 2x faster than the iPhone 15 model. It also includes a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU 40 percent making the smartphone faster and 35 percent more efficient than the A16 Bionic chip. The iPhone 16 will now support AAA games such as Honor of Kings: World with an ultra graphics mode. With the new chipset, iPhone 16 will be compatible with Apple Intelligence which includes a suite of AI features across the iOS ecosystem. AI features will include smarter Siri, Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, AI writing tools, smart reply, Clean Up tool, call summary and transcription, and much more which will be rolled out by the end of 2024.
