The government has made it compulsory to link Aadhaar card with other documents and bank accounts. The Aadhar card is one of the most preferred identity proofs and hence it becomes necessary to also register or update your active mobile number on it too. If you don't have an Aadhaar card, you can apply for one and get your mobile number registered with it during the enrolment process. Updating your demographic details on an Aadhaar card is quite simple if your registered mobile number is active. You can update the details online. However, if your registered number is not active or your mobile number has changed, you will not be able to add/update your mobile number via the old SSUP (Self Service Update Portal) portal as it was discontinued. Now, the applicant has to visit the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update centre to register/update mobile number on the Aadhaar card, if you go by the offline route. The entire process may take up to 90 days. We also tell you the steps to add your mobile number or email ID to your Aadhaar card via online mode.
