Before its launch in September, everyone knew that Apple iPhone 14 would not be a game-changer. Blame pandemic related manufacturing problems. iPhone 14 lineup made one big change and that was to create a big gap between the iPhone 14 Pro and non-Pro models by introducing exclusive specs and features for the latter like the new A16 Bionic chipset (making it the fastest smartphone around), 48MP primary camera, an updated pill-shaped display design featuring Dynamic Island, and always-on display feature. All of this however, did not add up to a game-changer phone. Now, hopes are resting on the iPhone 15 lineup to deliver something special. This year we got something exciting in the form of the Dynamic Island. On a good note, several leaks suggest that both the next year's standard and Plus models will get the same feature. That means you will not need to worry about spending a huge chunk of money on the Pro models to get rid of the Notch display.

iPhone 15 chipset

Next year, the non-Pro models will get the A16 Bionic chipset. Again, the differentiation between the iPhone 14 standard model and the premium models will be set as Apple will only pack the A17 Bionic chipset into the top-end Pro models. The big news here is that this chip will make the iPhone the fastest smartphone in the world unless rivals come up with a miracle chip, which at the moment looks unlikely. It will likely be 10 pct faster and also help in reducing power consumption even as it does more work.

iPhone 15 cameras

After the arrival of the 48MP camera on the iPhone 14 Pro models, expectations are that the new periscope telephoto lens camera will be rolled out on the iPhone 15 models. Not just that, a leak suggests that the iPhone 15 Ultra (iPhone 15 Pro Max will likely be renamed Ultra) will feature two selfie cameras instead of one. While other models are expected to continue with single selfie cameras.

Finally, multiple reports hint that the whole iPhone 15 lineup is coming with the USB-C port while removing the exclusive Lightning port that we have seen on Apple iPhones so far.

Game-changer? It will probably not shock and awe. Having said that, the iPhone 15 will definitely improve performance across a number of parameters, making it a special package. Just like iPhone 14 is special.
