Wow! Woman hunts down phone thief via smartwatch find my phone feature; knocks him out

Have you lost your smartphone and tried finding it out using your smartwatch? Surprised? Don't be! Your smartwatch can help you find your stolen or lost phone. Something similar has happened with a Gurgaon woman. The woman named Pallavi Kaushik lost her phone to a snatcher while she was shopping for groceries at Huda market on August 28 at around 6 pm. However, the lady managed to catch the mobile thief with the help of the Find My Phone feature available in her smartwatch. And what is more, the brave woman even knocked him on the head to recover her phone! Here is all you need to know about the incident.

This is how it happened: The woman had just made a payment in a store through her phone and a man came from behind her and snatched it from her hands, according to the Hindustan Times report. Though the lady did raise an alarm, no one came to help her, and the thief managed to flee, according to the FIR.

As the lady could not chase down the thief right then and there, she started tracking the location of her phone with the help of Find My Phone feature of her smartwatch. Her smartwatch indicated with a beep that her phone was nearby. After tracking the phone for a few hours, the lady saw the thief sitting on a motorbike using her phone. She rushed over and hit him on his head and took back her phone.

“I panicked after losing my phone as it had all my contacts and work-related important data. Thus, I kept wandering the bylanes till 9.15pm in an attempt to track him with help of the watch. I finally spotted him sitting on a motorcycle parked on the corner of a narrow lane,” Pallavi said, as quoted by HT report.

The lady managed to get her phone back, however, the thief had already managed to transfer Rs. 50865 from her bank account to other accounts via her UPI.

“He tried to break free and my phone fell from his hands. He fled, leaving my phone behind. I picked it up and returned home. The next day, I submitted a complaint at the Palam Vihar police station,” she said.

It can be noted that now-a-days, almost every smartphone comes with a feature named Find My Phone in order to keep a track of their smartphones.
