HMD Global has announced a revised roadmap for the Android 11 update for select Nokia handsets. The update will roll out through the third quarter of this year.
According to a post on the company's community forum, Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia 3.2 have received the latest Android update in the first quarter. Between the first and second quarters, Nokia 4.2, Nokia 2.2, Nokia 8.1, and Nokia 2.3 will get the update.
In the second quarter of the year, HMD Global will roll out the Android 11 update for Nokia 3.4, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 5.4, Nokia 1.4, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 2.4. In the third quarter, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 7.2, and Nokia 9 PureView will receive the update.
HMD Global had announced a similar Android 11 update roadmap for Nokia phones last year. The company had then confirmed the roll-out for at least 15 Nokia handsets between the fourth quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021, GSMArena reports.
Out of the 15 handsets confirmed, seven handsets have already received the update. According to the report, the update has been delayed for the remaining handsets. The revised Android 11 roadmap indicates Nokia smartphone users may have to wait longer for the update.
Separately, HMD Global is working on a new X-series handset. Called X50, the smartphone is said to launch later this year. Unlike the X10 and X20, Nokia X50 target the premium segment. According to reports, Nokia X50 will come with a 108-megapixel camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 processor. The chip is likely to be an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 765G processor. Other expected features are a QHD+ display, 120Hz refresh rate, and a large 6000mAh battery.
