iPhone 14 LAUNCHED finally! Same old price, same old chip but new colour
The iPhone 14 has been announced officially by Apple, with the prices revealed. Here is all you need to know about it.
The wait for the iPhone 14 comes to an end! Apple just announced the iPhone 14 at the Far Out launch event as the successor to the ever popular iPhone 13. The new model brings in some crucial upgrades to the core specifications but retains largely the basics that made the iPhone 13 a darling for premium smartphone buyers. The iPhone 14 will be sold in most global markets, including India, alongside the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12, both of which will see a reduction in prices.
Coming back to the iPhone 14, Apple sticks to three storage variants for these handsets, with prices starting at $799 for the base 128GB variant. Then there's a 256GB variant that will set you back by $899. The top-end variant offers 512GB storage with a price of $999. As usual, Apple offers lucrative trade-in deals for customers via its stores.
As for the colours, you can buy the iPhone 14 in Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, and Product Red.
iPhone 14 basic specifications at a glance
The iPhone 14 retains the same design as the iPhone 13 from last year but there are changes. First of all, the iPhone 14 gets the same 6.1-inch OLED display with a smaller notch we saw on the iPhone 13 last year. Ceramic Shield protection is there and Apple promises 1200 nits of brightness.
Underneath, there is the Apple A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 Pro with the extra GPU core – 5 core GPU. Hence, users will be able to get slightly better performance with respect to the iPhone 13. There's support for 5G networks and Apple stresses on eSIM technology. You can store multiple eSIMs on the same device.
As for the cameras, the iPhone 14 gets the same 12MP main camera with a larger sensor with f/1.5 aperture lens and sensor shift stability. Apple promises an improvement of 49 percent in low light photography. and the 12MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera also uses the 12MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture but with a new lens arrangement, it can now do autofocus. Apple promises much better low light selfies on the iPhone 14.
The iPhone 14 also brings Action Mode for video recording. The Action mode promises superior stability while shooting videos.
iPhone 14 also has a new gyroscope sensor that can detect impacts of up to 256G. Apple also brings support for satellite connectivity on the iPhone 14, called Emergency SOS via satellite. Users can now use the Find My app to share their location with contacts. The service will be available from November 2022 and will be free for use for two years.
Lastly, the iPhone 14 gets a slightly bigger capacity battery than its predecessor. Apple promises an increase in stamina, which should make for longer endurance.
