Redmi Note 8 2021 will feature MediaTeks G85 processor, 48MP quad-camera
Xiaomi has not yet disclosed the official launch date for the 2021 edition of Redmi Note 8. Here is what we know about the new series.
Xiaomi has released more details about the upcoming Redmi Note 8 2021 edition.
In the latest set of teasers, Xiaomi confirmed the upcoming smartphone would sport a 48-megapixel quad-camera. It further said the phone would also come with a 6.3-inch dot drop display.
Xiaomi also announced that the Redmi Note 8 2021 would run on MediaTek's Helio G85 processor. The chipset powers a variety of smartphones, such as Infinix Note 10, Realme Narzo 20, and Xiaomi's own Redmi Note 9.

According to older teasers, the Redmi Note 8 2021 looks identical to the original version that had launched in 2019. The phone has a waterdrop-like notch on the front with relatively thick bezels on the sides. The rear houses a vertical camera panel. Teasers also confirm the phones will be available in the blue colour option.
Leaks claim Redmi Note 8 2021 will come with a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It will also have 128GB of built-in storage. It will pack a 4,000mAh battery for power. There will also be 22.5W fast charging support. On the software front, it could come with MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box.
As far as the camera configuration goes, Redmi Note 8 2021 will come with a 48-megapixel sensor, 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, 2-megapixel depth sensor, and 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, it could come with a 13-megapixel selfie shooter.
Overall, Redmi Note 8 2021 appears to be a repackaged version of the original phone with a few specifications changes, such as a camera and upgraded camera set.
The original Note 8 came with a 6.3-inch full HD display. It ran on Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage.
Redmi Note 8 also packed four rear cameras, including a 48-megapixel primary sensor (Samsung GM1), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It had a 13-megapixel selfie camera. Other features of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 are 512GB expandable storage support, 4,000mAh battery, and 18W charging support.
