Xiaomi could be working on a new version of the Redmi Note 8 smartphone. This is quite surprising since Xiaomi launched back in 2019, and we're currently on the Redmi Note 10 series. But a new leak suggests there could be a 2021 version of the Redmi Note 8.

A Xiaomi phone with the model number M1908C3JGG has been spotted on the FCC website by leaker Kacper Skrzypek who claims that it's a new Redmi Note 8. He adds that the phone has also been confirmed by one of Xiaomi pages but it isn't clear which one exactly. Based on the screenshot shared we can see a Redmi Note 8 (2021) listed in the search results along with Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro and Note 8T.

The FCC listing also reveals that the Redmi Note 8 2021 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor paired with 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is said to pack a 4,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support. The smartphone will also run MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box. Redmi Note 8 2021 is also expected to feature a 48-megapixel quad-camera, and it will most likely have a water drop display. Xiaomi is reportedly developing the phone for select markets including the EU and Russia.

Xiaomi is yet to announce its plans of launching a 2021 Redmi Note 8. It may even launch the phone under a different moniker. We can also expect the design to be similar since it's based on the Redmi Note 8.
