Xiaomi Flip folding phone design leaks! Guess which phone it resembles
Xiaomi patents reveal a folding phone schematic that looks a lot like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold was unveiled last year as Xiaomi's foray into the foldable smartphone space. It looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and with Samsung and Motorola trying flip phones, Xiaomi also seems to be trying its hand at compact flip folding phones. A recent patent filing with CNIPA (Chinese National Intellectual Property Association) has revealed what it could look like.
The flip folding phone from Xiaomi looks a lot like the first generation Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. That means you only get to see a tiny outer display accompanied by two cameras on the side. The entire display and cameras sit inside a small bar-like casing on the front. The renders were first spotted by a MySmartPrice report.
Xiaomi's flip folding phone design leaks
The hinge system is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip. On this inside, the similarities with the Samsung flip phone continue on the inside wherein the folding display has thick uniform bezels around. The camera cutout sits to the corner although Xiaomi appears to be working on a dual front camera instead of a single camera.
This is still a patent filing and there are chances that Xiaomi may never materialize this phone. However, the competition in the folding space heating up, we cannot rule out this design. Motorola's Razr still leads the space with the largest outer display on a flip folding phone, followed by the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Xiaomi could add a larger display on its flip phone to make it more competitive.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is currently the most affordable flip folding smartphone available in India, starting at ₹84,999. The The Z Flip 3 features a Snapdragon 888 chip, a 6.7-inch FHD+ foldable AMOLED display, and a 3300mAh battery. The Motorola Razr 5G is available at a price of ₹89,999 but remains mostly out of stock.
