Xiaomi's 80W wireless charger can fully charge a 4,000mAh phone in 19 mins
Xiaomi's latest fast wireless charging technology can reach 50% in just eight minutes.
Xiaomi has launched a new 80W fast wireless charger that claims to charge a smartphone with a 4,000mAh battery in just 19 minutes. Xiaomi's new wireless charger has been made official in China. There's no word on whether the device will come to other markets.
Xiaomi announced the launch of its new wireless charger on Weibo. It also demonstrated charging a 4,000mAh battery smartphone from 0-100%. Based on the video, the phone charges to 50% in just eight minutes. It reaches 100% charge in just 19 minutes which is a big feat not just for fast charging but wireless charging technology.
Xiaomi's wireless charger has a stand on which the phone can rest. It's not a wireless charging pad like most wireless chargers. The design is similar to Google's Pixel Stand wireless charger. Xiaomi hasn't revealed the price of its wireless charger yet.
This isn't the first wireless charging Xiaomi has shown off. Earlier this year, it launched the Mi 10 Ultra smartphone with 50W fast wireless charging support. The smartphone's 4,500mAh battery is claimed to fully charge in just 40 minutes. That's not all. The Mi 10 Ultra also comes with support for a whopping 120W fast charging speed. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 processor with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
Competing closely with Xiaomi in this space is Oppo. Earlier this year, Oppo launched its 65W AirVOOC wireless charging technology that can fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in 30 minutes. The wireless charger is also Qi compatible. Oppo also launched the 125W flash charge that is said to fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in 20 minutes. Oppo, like Xiaomi, is yet to bring its latest fast charging technology in other markets.
