Google Pay upgrade: UPI Autopay to help you with monthly online subscriptions

If you use Google Pay, there's good news. Starting today, users of Google Pay will be able to set automatic recurring payments for online subscription services, much like they can do with debit and credit cards. The feature is called UPI Autopay and will let the Google Pay app automatically pay your monthly charges to a particular service, thereby removing the need to make manual payments.

The UPI Autopay feature will be enabled by default on all new subscriptions and will make the monthly payments on behalf of you. Users can choose to opt out of it only if they cancel the subscription to that particular service. “UPI Autopay makes setting up subscriptions easy. After selecting a subscription plan for purchase, simply tap on the payment method in the cart, select “Pay with UPI”, and then approve the purchase in your supported UPI app,” says Google in its blogpost.

At the moment, it is unknown as to which apps and services support the UPI Autopay and how fast it will arrive on other popular platforms. Google Pay is available on both Android and iOS devices.

On the other hand, Google Pay was trending on Twitter the previous day for a funny reason. Twitter users took to their timelines to express dissatisfaction over the lack of any cashback offers and coupons these days. To recall, Google Pay had gained a lot of popularity in its early days by giving cashbacks and coupons on most payments and purchases.
