Prime Day 2020: Amazon to feature over 1,000 new products from SMBs, startups
Amazon Prime Day sale kicks off on August 6. Here is what you can expect from one of the biggest e-commerce sales of the year.
Amazon on Thursday said that it will feature more than 1,000 new products from Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) and startups during its Prime Day sale.
Amazon’s Prime Day sale is scheduled to be held between August 6 and August 7. Ahead of the sale, Amazon is giving a 20% cashback up to ₹200 on their Prime Day purchases of products from SMBs and startups.
The e-commerce company said that thousands of local shops on Amazon sellers will make their Prime Day debut in India this year. The 1,000 new products will be from 17 categories, ranging from health and personal care to home care products.
The Prime Day sale will also see the participation of artisans and women entrepreneurs from the company’s Karigar and Saheli programmes. These will offer handmade products from Tribes India, Blue pottery by Aditya Blue Pottery, Jewelry from Giva and more. Karigar store will have over 270 crafts from different artisans in the country.
Government emporiums, APCO handlooms from Andhra Pradesh and Mrignayanee from Madhya Pradesh will be showcasing hand-woven apparels ranging from Mangalgiri, Venkatgiri & Chirala to Maheshwari & Chanderi this Prime Day.
Amazon said that Small businesses and sellers in the Launchpad programme registered sales growth of up to 2.8x whereas Karigar sellers saw nearly 2.5x increase in their sale volumes during the Prime Day sale last year. Top selling products from SMBs included Power Gummies Hair Vitamin, Anti-Theft Backpack with USB Charging Port and Ayurvedic products from Kapiva.
