Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 with ‘Samsung Mall’ launched in India, priced at ₹8,190

Samsung on Thursday launched a new smartphone under its Galaxy J series. Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 is priced at ₹8,190 and will be available starting April 27.

The smartphone comes pre-loaded with Samsung Mall which is a part of the "Make for India" initiative. Samsung Mall uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to help users shop online. Its features include 'Visual Search' which delivers search results on the basis of a product picture clicked on or uploaded from the user's gallery.

'One-stop shop' in Samsung Mall searches for the image across different sites for price comparisons. 'Universal Cart' allows users to add items from different platforms to one single cart.

"Samsung Mall uses AI to revolutionise the way customers shop online with visual search," said Sumit Walia, Director, Mobile business, Samsung India.

Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 specifications

Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In the photography department, Galaxy J2 2018 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash. The smartphone is fuelled by a 2,600mAh battery.

Reliance Jio offer

Additionally, Jio users who purchase the smartphone can avail a cashback of ₹2,750 in their MyJio account on recharging with a ₹198 or ₹299 plan.

The cashback for Jio users comes bundled with an extra 10GB of 4G data on every recharge for the next 10 recharges.
