WWDC 2020: Apple launches App Clips
Apple Clips will be available as a part of iOS 14 update later this year.
Apple on Monday announced the launch of iOS 14. The company's newly launched mobile OS that will be rolled out to the iPhone users in the fall this year comes with a host of new features such as a redesigned home screen, a brand new Siri and updated Maps and Messages apps to name a new. iOS 14 also comes with a feature called App Clips.
App Clips are shortcuts to app experiences.
An App Clip, as the company explains, is a small part of an app experience that is designed to be discovered the moment it is needed. It is associated with a particular product or business and it loads within seconds to enable users to complete a specific task, such as renting a scooter, purchasing a coffee, or filling a parking meter within seconds. Additionally, they can be used by a business or an that connects several businesses.
App Codes can be easily discovered and accessed by scanning a new Apple-designed App Clip code or via NFC tags and QR codes. Additionally, App Clip codes can be shared in Messages or from Safari, all with the security and privacy expected from apps.
"With beautifully redesigned widgets on the Home Screen, the App Library that automatically organizes all of your apps, and App Clips that are fast and easy to discover, iPhone becomes even more powerful and easier to use,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.
