Flipkart to launch Nokia Android TV box next month: Report
Flipkart plans to enter the streaming hardware space with a new Nokia-branded Android TV box.
Flipkart will reportedly launch a Nokia-branded Android TV streaming box in India next month. Flipkart is the brand licensee for Nokia smart TVs in India.
The Nokia Android TV box will run on Android 9.0, and it will support full HD resolution, according to a report by NPU. The Nokia streaming box will also come with support for Chromecast, the report added. Another feature pointed out in the report is that the Nokia Android TV box will have Google Assistant support for voice search.
The features revealed for the Nokia Android TV box are quite like what other streaming products offer in the market. Nokia would only be a new competitor in this market. So far, there have been Amazon's Fire TV sticks and Google Chromecast. Airtel last year launched its Xstream Android Box which offers streaming services and DTH channels as well.
Xiaomi recently launched its Mi Box 4K in India which is priced at ₹3,499. The Mi Box 4K also runs on Android 9.0, has built-in Chromecast and support for 4K content and HDR 10. Most of these streaming devices are priced in the budget segment. The Nokia Android TV box is also expected to be priced somewhere around the same.
Flipkart launched the first Nokia-branded smart TV last year. It was the 55-inch UHD Nokia TV, and it was launched at ₹41,999. Just last month, Flipkart launched another Nokia TV with a 43-inch UHD 4K display. Flipkart is the brand licensee for Motorola smart TVs as well.
