Samsung electronics chairman Lee Kun-hee died at the age of 78 on October 25. Lee spent over 6 years in hospital following a heart attack in 2014. The company did not specify the cause of death. His family will hold a private funeral. Lee, the country's richest person, grew Samsung into South Korea’s biggest conglomerate. Under Lee’s leadership, Samsung rose to become the world's largest producer of smartphones. Lee’s career was also notable for its setbacks and controversies. His son Jay Y.
