Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro Review: Great ANC earbuds on budget
The Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro promises to bring several features along with bass-boosted sound performance and effective ANC. But does it make a good deal? Find out in the review.
These days, you won't find a scarcity of options in the market for truly wireless earbuds, especially in the budget segment. Packed with features such as touch controls, bass-boosted audio quality and the most widely used term these days ANC - the active noise cancellation has been one of the buzzwords when buying a new pair of TWS. But budget earbuds usually end up compromising on their effectiveness. However, the latest TWS from Oppo proves the notion wrong. In the sub-4k category, the Enco Air2 Pro brings strong ANC performance that left us impressed. But does it manage to perform best in the rest of the factors? To find out, I have used the Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro for a couple of weeks and here's what we found out.
Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro Design
Without diverting from the safe design that we usually see in earbuds, Oppo brings another shiny pebble-shaped charging case, carrying stem-like earbuds inside it. Well, to bring a fun element to that old classic design, Oppo kept an additional transparent layer on top of the lid. The front goes blank with just the battery indicator, while at the back, the Oppo logo sat on top of the lid opening space. Overall, the design and build make it easy to carry in your pocket but the glossy surface gets scratched in no time. Talking about the earbuds, which brings silicone ear-tips unlike its non-pro Enco Air2 earbuds, makes the perfect fit. At least for me! Till now, these earbuds are the ones which I can consider carrying for workout sessions, just because of their perfect fit and IP54 dust and water resistance rating.
Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro Audio Performance
In the sub-4k segment, it is hard to get audio performance which can deal with all types of genres. But Enco Air2 Pro did a great job! Especially with its bass-worthy performance, you can enjoy all the pop music, Punjabi, EDM or whatever you like. Besides that, you may feel a lack of detailing for classical music, but changing the mode from bass boost to Clear Vocals through the app can fix that too to some extent. At maximum volume, the sound feels a little distorted while lows sound a little flat. I have mostly used the earbuds at around 60-80 volumes which delivered the sound at its best results.
For calling, it lets the communication happens without any significant disturbance. When it comes to its ANC system, it is just on point while considering the price! It filters out all the noise from the surroundings such as fans whirling, distant traffic sounds. And when your music is on, people chattering can even fade out to a larger extent. While transparency mode does help to hear sounds from the outside when needed.
Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro Features
The Enco Air2 Pro relies on Bluetooth 5.2 which ensures quick connectivity. Well, the touch controls can be customised according to your liking. And if you own an Oppo smartphone, then you can even directly use the extended features from the Bluetooth settings only.
While, for non-Oppo users, the Hey Melody app will do the same. From changing music modes to touch controls, you can manage all the necessary settings through it. Earbuds also bring in-ear detection features at this price, which is quite impressive. Not just that, with the Oppo smartphone, you can take photos with a single tap via earbuds (just like the remote selfie control button!) Though I found a few seconds of lag in the wearing detection sensor, though, I didn't find any major impact in performance due to this.
Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro Battery
On paper, Oppo claims to bring 5 hours of battery life with ANC, which seems more or less the same in reality too. I could easily extract 4.5 hours of battery life with ANC while maintaining the volume around 60-70 levels. This includes around an hour of calling and continuous music. The charging case is also there to refill the earbuds' battery three more times. That means, in total, you can easily get 18-19 hours of playback time, which is decent at this price. Though, once the charging case runs out of battery, it takes almost 2 hours to regain its energy, including earbuds.
The Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro promises to carry plenty of features, great audio performance, and smart controls on paper. And based on my usage, it actually delivers the same in real life too (almost!). The bass-worthy sound, strong ANC, decent battery life, and perfect fit are what define the overall experience of the Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro earbuds. Enco Air2 Pro earbuds are loaded with all the possible smart features such as in-ear wear detection, one earbud usage, app support, customisable touch controls, volume controls via earbuds, and many more. Priced at Rs. 3,499, the Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro earbuds prove to be one of our favourites in the sub-4,000 segment.
However, considering the tough competition, the Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro doesn't stand out with special factors nor does it disappoint you. It checks all the tick-boxes right. If you own an Oppo smartphone, then Enco Air2 Pro will bring a more seamless experience, else you have alternatives from Boat, Noise, JBL, and many other big audio brands.
