3 Things iPhone 14 will miss out on this year: One feature could be a BIG deal
The iPhone 14 could miss out on three big things that may come with the iPhone 15 as standard. Here are all the details.
There are only a few days left for Apple to reveal the iPhone 14 at the “Far Out” event on September 7, and the expectations are sky high already. The iPhone 14 standard models are expected to be largely the same as the iPhone 13 in terms of basic specs and features. The iPhone 14 Pro, on the other hand, will get the new camera hardware, a new display design that gets rid of the notch, and a couple of other new bits. However, there will be three major upgrades that the iPhone 14 could be missing out this year, and all of them will matter to iPhone fans.
Even though the iPhone 14 is yet to be revealed, the tipsters have been busy gathering leaks on the iPhone 15, or the iPhone that is expected to launch in 2023. It has only been a few bits about this 2023 flagship iPhone but we already have a fair idea that Apple could be giving it some big upgrades. Hence, if you are planning to buy the iPhone 14 this year, you should read this before making your decision.
3 Things iPhone 14 will miss out this year
USB-C port
With the EU mandating phone manufacturers to make the move to USB-C ports from 2024, Apple could be giving the iPhone 15 the USB-C port. While it may just be a charging port for many, the USB-C port could be a huge advantage in terms of data transfer speeds as well as charging speeds. That also means the iPhone 14 series could be the last big iPhone launch with the old Lightning port. Hence, waiting for one more year can guarantee you a bigger gain with regards to the charging port.
Periscope lens
The iPhone 14 Pro is expected to get a new 48MP main camera and a new ultra-wide camera sensor. However, it is the iPhone 15 Pro that will be getting a new periscope lens arrangement for the zoom camera. This could mean the iPhone could finally offer up to 5X optical zoom at least, or it could match the Galaxy S22 Ultra's 10X optical zoom. This could add more versatility to the iPhone's camera from 2023. Those buying the iPhone 14 Pro will be limited to the same old 3X zoom camera.
3nm Chipset
The iPhone 15 is now expected to be the first smartphone in the world to get a 3nm TSMC chip. In simple words, a 3nm chip guarantees better power efficiency and much more raw performance. The A15 chip used in the current iPhone 13 is a 5nm chip and the A16 chip expected in the iPhone 14 Pro will be an enhanced version of the 5nm node. Hence, a wait for another year could get you a lot more performance.
