Multiple bugs are being reported on Apple iOS 15.1 that are affecting iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 users. These iPhones are reporting numerous connectivity issues, serious privacy concerns. As a result, millions of iPhone owners have been issued with a new warning. Reported by 9to5Mac, many iOS 15.1 users are experiencing connection issues with Bluetooth hands-free systems in cars. Most users are criticising Apple for leaving the bugs unsolved for so long.

The issues appear to be mostly with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, but they also impact a variety of automobile brands. It seems to be largely affecting the Toyota drivers, and it began somewhere around the release of iOS 15 and iOS 15.1, and it remains even on recent versions of iOS, such as iOS 15.1.1. There have been a few reports from Audi and Volvo drivers, but those issues do not appear to be as common as the issues encountered by Toyota drivers.

In addition to Toyota, Audi and Volvo, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 Bluetooth connectivity issues are being reported with Acura, BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, and Porsche. Furthermore, there are major safety implications inherent in this issue. As of now, no effective fix has been identified, and even Apple has not publicly acknowledged the issue. However, with more than 100 million iPhone 12 units sold and early iPhone 13 sales exceeding its predecessor, pressure on Apple to roll out an update will be immense.

The hit for users will be even harder to take as iOS 15.1.1 was launched especially to "improve call drop performance" for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 owners - it appears to have had the opposite effect. Forbes reported that a number of iPhone 13 customers are saying that the allegations are nothing new and that they have been suffering since the release of iOS 15, which might hint at a hardware fault only weeks after Apple expanded its iPhone 12 recall due to audio issues. If you are facing any issue with iOS 15 or iOS 15.1, do share your problem with the company.
